ADVICE FOR ACTORS & PERFORMERS: The first thing we would like to make clear is that Richard is a Casting Director, and NOT an agent, so if youre seeking representation, please dont write to us, as many do. There is an extensive list of agents in the reference book Contacts, which is published annually by The Spotlight. For consideration for casting projects, please send us your CV or resumé, together with a recent photograph. Post is the best method for sending these, as photos invariably reproduce badly via fax and to protect our computer from viruses, we do not open e-mail attachments. Our policy is normally to invite artists in for audition whom we have met, and preferably seen in action, either on stage or screen. It is therefore well worth keeping us, and other casting personnel, informed of your future work and we will do our utmost to see it. Please bear in mind, however, that we receive around 3 to 5 such invitations each day, and it simply isnt possible to see everything, especially if its outside the London area. That said, we do see shows out of town as often as possible, so it is always worth trying, in case we should be in the area. When inviting potential workgivers to see you in shows, it is well worth thinking what would entice you to see your production over all the others around, and incorporating it into your invitation. Complimentary tickets should always be offered, even if you have to pay for these tickets yourself. Theatre tickets are tax deductable against your earnings and a very worthwhile career investment. If you are earning little or no money, it is worth trying to negotiate free or reduced price tickets for casting directors, agents, directors etc before accepting the job. Please also ensure that the part you are playing is worth inviting people to see!
